According to the research agency QuestMobile, the byte pulse pack launched in 2023 is at the top of the Chinese-generated AI market, reaching 157 million live users by August. Little is known about the use of “Cici” for sister-to-sisters created in overseas markets.

Cici was published almost simultaneously with the bean bag and used almost the same cartoon girl’s header as an icon, which was even lower because regional restrictions were not online in China and the United States. However, byte beats have been promoted in the United Kingdom, Mexico and several countries in South-East Asia, with the Meta Advertisement Library showing that in October, Cici launched more than 400 groups of advertisements in Mexico, with “free use” and “mathematical solvency” as selling points. The market intelligence company Sensor Tower data show that, thanks to marketing inputs, Cici has recently been in the top 20 on the Google Play free download list in markets such as Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Over the past week, the application has continued to top Mexico’s Google Play single-day download list, with the nineth highest on Thursday in the British Apple App store. Although Cici did not mention any connection to byte beating in its applications or on the website, byte confirmed control over it to Forbes in 2024. According to privacy policy disclosures, Cici uses techniques such as PicPic, programming assistant Coze, etc., under byte-jump photo editor, but uses OpenAI GPT and Google Gemini for text generation, rather than byte self-study models.

The Cici mobile-end design is highly similar to the soybean kit, which supports text voice chats, image generation analysis and user-built smart body functions, but lags behind in multimodular and social characteristics – lack of music video generation and does not support direct content sharing. Since the success of TikTok, byte beats have failed to recreate products of equal global impact. Although Cici ‘ s international influence is far less than the dominance of bean buns in the Chinese market, it shows that companies are steadily expanding overseas and are willing to put it to users. Unlike the Chinese market, the bytes need to confront OpenAI, Anthropic and Google in the absence of overseas markets that block policy barriers for Western AI competitors.

The Shanghai-based investor, Dermot Magrats, stated: “China’s AI company is better placed to build consumer-grade products that users really need. Neither Google nor OpenAI has mastered the dopamine-driven participation mechanism used in the byte beat to build TikTok.” However, Cici faces unique challenges overseas: the global AI application market is more fragmented, users choose to be influenced by cultural background and economic habits; and multinational concerns about data security and political advocacy arise. McGrawes believes that, unless geopolitics or cooperation with Western enterprises is properly addressed, the byte advantage “may be largely limited to China and other Asian markets”.
